A place to connect with Jesus

Who We Are

Locally

WE ARE A CHURCH committed to helping people become fully devoted followers of Jesus.

We’re here to live out the Gospel, build genuine community, and grow through the transforming truth of God’s Word.

We believe every person has a purpose. Together, we’re discovering our gifts, growing in faith, and using our lives to serve God and others.

Globally

As a Southern Baptist congregation we support thousands of missionaries throughout the world by partnering with the International Mission Board

We support them financially and in prayer, and through them the gospel is being spread across the globe.

Outreach

In order to reach the community we believe you must encounter people where they are at. That is why we actively engage the community in a loving and caring way and put no expectations on people to look or act a certain way.

It is our intent, that by meeting tangible needs, we become the hands and feet of Jesus.

Jack K. Clegg - Senior Pastor

Pastor Jack K. Clegg has devoted his ministry to the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, Christian education, and helping churches faithfully share the hope of Jesus Christ with their communities.

A longtime Southern Baptist pastor, Jack served in pastoral ministry in Morgan Hill, California, before coming to First Baptist Church of Thousand Oaks. Throughout his ministry, he has emphasized biblical preaching, evangelism, discipleship, and the importance of the local church being actively engaged with the people and community it has been called to serve.

Pastor Jack holds a Master of Theology and brings his background in theological education into both the pulpit and the classroom. In addition to serving as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, he serves as Senior Administrator and Classical Studies Instructor at First Baptist Accelerated Academy, the church’s K–12 Christian school. His involvement in Christian education reflects a conviction that biblical truth should shape not only Sunday worship, but the way Christians learn, think, serve, and live throughout the week.

Jack’s ministry at First Baptist extends beyond his pastoral responsibilities. He also provides organizational leadership for the church and its ministries, which include First Baptist Accelerated Academy and Hummingbird Preschool. Together, these ministries have allowed the church to serve generations of children and families in the Conejo Valley.

Jack met his wife, Shari, while they were attending California Baptist University in Riverside. Their lives have shared a strong connection to ministry and Christian education. Shari serves as Director of Hummingbird Preschool and has spent much of her career working with children and families. Jack and Shari have two grown children and four grandchildren.

At the heart of Pastor Jack’s ministry is a commitment to the authority of Scripture and the belief that the Gospel remains the greatest source of hope for individuals, families, and communities. His desire is to see people come to know Christ, grow in their understanding of God’s Word, and discover a meaningful place of service within the family of God.

Our Beliefs

We believe in one true and living God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created all things, loves us, and desires a relationship with us.

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the grave, and will return again. The Holy Spirit works in our lives to reveal truth, draw us to Christ, and help believers live faithfully.

The Bible is God’s inspired Word and is our trustworthy and authoritative guide for what we believe and how we live.

We believe every person is created in the image of God and has immeasurable worth, but sin separates us from God. We cannot restore that relationship through our own goodness or effort.

God offers salvation freely through Jesus Christ. Through repentance and faith in Jesus, we receive forgiveness, new life, and a restored relationship with God. Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, not something we earn.

Those who trust in Christ are called to grow as His disciples, becoming more like Jesus and demonstrating their faith through love, obedience, and service to others.

We believe the church is the family of believers who follow Jesus together. The local church gathers for worship, biblical teaching, prayer, fellowship, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and service.

Every follower of Jesus is called to participate in God’s mission by sharing the gospel, making disciples, caring for people in need, pursuing what is good and just, and demonstrating the love of Christ in our homes, communities, and world.

We look forward to the return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection, and eternal life with God. Until then, our purpose is simple: love God, love people, and make disciples.
